Travelers at Newark Liberty International Airport got quite a scare when a curious two-year-old boy took an unexpected ride on the baggage conveyor belt. The little explorer slipped behind the JetBlue ticketing counter while his parents were distracted for just a moment. In a flash, he climbed onto the moving belt and began his slow journey through the maze of rollers and chutes that lead to the baggage handling area.
Airport workers and nearby passengers noticed the empty stroller and alerted staff right away. Security cameras tracked the child as he disappeared from view, and Port Authority officers rushed to intercept him. A few tense minutes later, they found the toddler sitting calmly among suitcases in the baggage room.
Medics were called to check the boy for any injuries, but he was perfectly fine, smiling and waving to his rescuers. His parents, however, were shaken and grateful for the quick response. Airport officials reminded travelers to keep a close eye on children at all times, especially near busy counters and moving equipment.
