The Cricket Celebration Bowl has solidified its standing as a premier event, paying homage to the rich heritage, legacy, pageantry, and tradition of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). This 8th annual championship game between the MEAC and SWAC champions will take place on Saturday, December 16th, at noon in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium and will be televised live on ABC. The weekend will include fan experiences, community service projects, and a groundbreaking addition this year – the inaugural Band of the Year National Championship.
Yesterday, our Digital Content Producer, Meag Taylor, had the exclusive opportunity to connect with the football coaches of Florida A&M University (FAMU) and Howard University at The Cricket Celebration Bowl press conference. Beyond the excitement of making it to this bowl game, these schools are not new to clinching victories—they boast the winningest seasons in their respective conferences.
Coach Willie Simmons from FAMU is keeping it real with his players, telling them, "Our job is to represent FAMU and play our best ball every chance that we get." While he is eager to get his team to FAMU North, a.k.a. Atlanta, his only concern is to limit the players' distractions while they're in town.
Larry Scott, the Head Coach of Howard University football, shared some wisdom. He's telling his squad to understand the process, get in position for the opportunity, and keep those feet planted in the moment.
Which team do you think will win it all next Saturday at The Cricket Celebration Bowl?
