Beyoncé has reportedly threatened to send a cease-and-desist letter to the Donald Trump campaign following the unauthorized release of a video featuring her song "Freedom."
On Tuesday (August 20), Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheug shared a video on social media of the former president deplaning in Michigan. The video showed Trump raising his fists in the air as he walked on the tarmac with Beyoncé's "Freedom" playing in the background.
A source close to the singer told Rolling Stone that Trump didn't have permission to use her track. The video has since been removed from X, formerly Twitter.
Vice President Kamala Harris has been using "Freedom" as her campaign anthem during rallies and in social media posts. Bey reportedly gave Harris permission to use the song amid her presidential bid.
This isn't the first time Trump has been accused of using music without permission. The estate of the late singer-songwriter Isaac Hayes recently filed a lawsuit against Trump over the unauthorized use of his song “Hold On, I’m Coming” at Republican rallies and in campaign videos.
Lawyers argue that Trump owes $150,000 for each unauthorized use of the song. The Trump campaign has allegedly used the track over 100 times.
