Military Jets To Fly Over Hospitals To Honor Workers Battling Conorovirus

The Air Force Thunderbirds and the Navy's Blue Angels will begin Operation America Strong on Tuesday (April 28). The two squadrons will perform flyovers at hospitals in New York City, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey to honor the frontline workers battling the coronavirus pandemic.

"We are truly excited to take to the skies with our Navy counterparts for a nation-wide tribute to the men and women keeping our communities safe." Air Force Lt. Col. John Caldwell said in a statement. "We hope to give Americans a touching display of American resolve that honors those serving on the frontline of our fight with COVID-19."

The flyovers will begin in New York City and Newark, New Jersey at noon eastern time and will last 35 minutes. The jets will then head to Trenton, where they will spend ten minutes flying over hospitals, before reaching Philadelphia around 2 p.m. ET.

The flyovers are the first of many that have been planned throughout the country. The two squadrons will be flying over hospitals in Washington, Baltimore, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, and Austin in the coming weeks. In addition to the joint operations, the Blue Angels will conduct solo flyovers in 13 cities, while the Thunderbirds have plans to fly by hospitals in 13 different cities.
